World AIDS Day at the Speed

December 1 at 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

World AIDS Day is a day to honor those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses, remember those lost, and stand together in the fight against HIV. It’s also a day to celebrate victories like increased access to treatment and prevention services. At the Speed, we gather together to ignite the cause and join in on the conversations.

Programming will include art-making (topic to be determined), the “Coming Out (of the Collection): Queer & Trans Art” tour by Docent Aris Spagnuolo, gallery activities, FREE HIV testing, and a FREE screening of Visual AIDS: Red Reminds Me . . . at the Speed Cinema. Stay tuned for more information.

The first World AIDS Day took place in 1988, providing a platform to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS and honor the lives affected by the epidemic. There has been significant progress in addressing HIV and AIDS thanks to advancements in medical research, increased access to treatment and prevention, and a broader understanding of the virus.
