4:30 – 7:30 pm“The Bitter and the Sweet”
How can visual culture help us learn about and analyze the past? By studying the historical context of objects, we can reflect on the era of their creation and through reflection imagine a better future. Join us as we focus on the objects, narratives, and economies in the exhibition The Bitter and the Sweet: Kentucky Sugar Chests, Enslavement, and the Transatlantic World 1790-1865. As we experience the culture that suffered and prospered from the toll of human enslavement, we will create a small personal monument that encompasses our aspirations for a more equitable future.
