SocialEyes: Bummer!
We live in strange times. At the start of 2020, you might have had some big plans for the future. And then suddenly, many of those plans were put on hold. If you feel like you haven’t done anything normal for a while, please join us.
Each 2 hour monthly event offers ways to check in with yourself, and other adults around you. In a casual space, where we can breathe and laugh, we discuss a single artwork in the galleries, focused on something you might have felt during the pandemic (isolation, disappointment, loss, etc.). Then we make our own art work, giving us a new perspective on your experiences.
At the start of 2020 we may have had big plans for the future, but many of those plans were suddenly put on hold. At this event, we will examine the stories behind Yoruba artworks from Nigeria that symbolize uncertainty and chaos. Then we will create breakable art to symbolize the frustration of being stuck, and discover ways of returning— one day! – to the person we hoped to be.
You don’t need to be an artist. You just need to be a person who wants to make sense of these strange times we live in.
For safety, in-person workshops will be limited to 16 participants, ages 21+. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test are required to attend.
