  Speed Concert Series

The Speed Concert Series is presented with funds from the Hattie Bishop Speed Music Trust. For more than 65 years the Speed Concert series has presented classical music to Louisville audiences including highly acclaimed artists such as Emanuel Ax, Leontyne Price, Olga Kern, Dawn Upshaw, Alicia de Larrocha, Jessye Norman and Midori.

Enjoy a cine-concert of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, the ground-breaking 1927 German Expressionist science fiction film featuring a live accompaniment by Louisville organist Tim Baker adapted from the original score. A pioneer in the sci-fi genre, Metropolis, offers a unique experience to kick off our concert series.

Ben Sollee

The Kentucky Center for the Arts

In a partnership with the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts we present cellist, singer songwriter, and composer Ben Sollee. A Kentucky native, Sollee has gained critical acclaim across the nation for his innovative compositions, which blend a variety of genres and instruments with his signature voice.

Vadym Kholodenko

Winner of the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition gold medal, the Ukranian virtuoso's has captured audiences with his exhilarating style and imaginative interpretations of classical works. An international performer since his teenage years, this year, at age 26, he continues to travel the globe on his tour in addition to continuing his collaboration with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra as its first artistic partner.

Michelle DeYoung

Mezzo soprano, DeYoung has achieved critical success over the course of her storied career performing a variety of roles with some of the finest opera houses and symphonies in the world. Most notably, DeYoung's rendition of Mahler's Symphony No. 3 with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony won her the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Classical Album.
