“A deceptively small movie that sneaks up and slays you with its emotional authenticity.”—David Rooney, Hollywood Reporter
Director Ira Sachs (Love is Strange, Keep the Lights On) is a humanist who shows us the intersection between class, race, wealth, talent, and ambition in contemporary life and the ways we have to find common ground to get along.
After inheriting his father’s building, Brian (Greg Kinnear) moves his family into the apartment above the storefront. His son befriends the son of the single mom who runs the dress shop downstairs. When financial stresses and greed force Brian to raise the rent considerably on the store, a feud erupts between the adults and spills over to the children. 2016, U.S., DCP, 85 minutes. Rated PG.
